Scenic Wallpaper installed a custom de Gournay wallpaper at a home in East Hampton, NY. The ground level and second floor, including the staircase, were covered in de Gournay’s Salon Vert, a design inspired by an antique Chinoiserie wallpaper famously photographed in Baroness Pauline de Rothschild’s apartment in Paris in a 1969 issue of Vogue. The scene is filled with flowers, birds, butterflies, and foliage, complemented by a stone balustrade running along the ground and an antiqued background.
We painted two large vents to match the wallpaper, as well the alarm panel, alarm and sensors, and we wrapped the design around a closet door incorporating the design on the inside of the door as well. Our artist also added two birds to a prominent panel at the top of the stairs, which helped to create a more visually engaging composition in that key location.
